A Day at the Park

First of all - YAY for blogger finally allowing multiple photo uploads at once!

My parents came to visit last weekend and so Jack got to play hooky and stay home with them on Friday.  We have a park down the street from our house, so Friday afternoon they took Jack to play at the park.  I earn the "Mom of the Year" award since this was Jack's first trip to the park and he's 14 months old.  Awful - I know!  But, going to the park doesn't seem like much fun when it's 100 degress outside!  I'm sure we'll be making many more trips since it's FINALLY beginning to feel like fall here in Texas!

Weeeeeeee!

He's not quite sure what to think about this little contraption!

Papa and Jack taking a break!
This playing makes me thirsty!

I took these pictures of Jack this morning before school.  I thought he looked so cute in this little outfit!  It's reversible and is denim with a turkey on the other side.  I can't wait till it gets a little closer to Thanksgiving so he can wear it on the turkey side.  Too cute!

Of course the picture with the best smile is all blurry!  Isn't that how it always is?  He's constantly on the move now, so getting good pictures is H-A-R-D!!!

Happy 14 Months Little Man!(It's ok that I'm 10 days late posting this, right?)

All of Jack's stats are pretty much the same as 13 months, but here's a quick 14 month update.  His bottom right molar is starting to break through the skin.  He's been working on cutting molars for a while now, but he has been so drooly for the past few weeks, I know they're going to break through any day now.  I can see the bottom right one right beneath the skin.

He's still not saying too many words, but he does say mama, dada, book (buu), bye, and a few other unreconizable words.  He's started doing the funniest things though!  He'll hold his hands out like he's saying "uh oh" or "what is it" anytime he throws drops something on the floor or when I say "No" or he doesn't want to do what I say, so basically he does this all.the.time!  It's hilarious!  He's also started barking at everything.  It's so funny - I'll try to catch it on video.  It started because Scott and Kim have a dog and when she'd start running around the living room barking, Jack would bark back at her, but now he just barks to bark.  He's quite the little ham.  He's becoming a strong-willed little guy and is pretty good at throwing fits and turning on the water works when he doesn't get his way, but he is still really sweet and will walk up to us and hug our legs and when he's tired he'll lay his head down on the couch beside us.

We Love You Little Man!

Cupcakes in a Jar

I have been seeing "Cupcakes in a Jar" all over bloggy-land and decided it was time for me to jump on the bandwagon and make some myself!

They were really easy to make.  I don't have pictures of the steps, but here's the quick version of what I did:

Ingredients:
1 - box cake, any flavor
1 - store bought icing
walnuts
sprinkles
12 - 8oz jelly jars
fabric
ribbon

Bake cupcakes according to package directions and let cool.
Layer sprinkles, nuts, cupcake, sprinkles, nuts, icing, cupcake and icing.
Put flat lid on jar, cover with fabric, screw on lid, tie with ribbon.

It's that easy!

I just threw this one together to get a quick picture, but when I make the remaining jars, I will cut the fabric in an 8" diameter circle so it will lay prettier and tie with raffia instead of ribbon.  The possibilities for making these are endless though!  You can use any flavor cakes, toppings, candies, icings that you like! I made 6 chocolate cupcake jars and 6 carrot cake jars.  Yummy!  My parents are coming tonight, so I can't wait to have these for dessert!

(Picture taken with my phone.)

I'm pretty sure Jack is excited to have a cupcake jar for dessert, too!

What have you made this week?

Jack's First Trip to the Beach {Part 2}

Click for Part 1

After a few relaxing, fun days at the beach it was time to go home, but not before one last trip down to the ocean with Grammy and Papa to play in the sand!

Jack LOVED this wagon and all of the beach toys in it!

Ok, I'm ready to build a sand castle...

Or maybe I'll just write my name in the sand instead!

Pretty good for a 1 year old, huh?  ;)

I LOVE this picture!

and this one too!

Jack and Papa walking along the ocean.

Bye, Bye Beach, we'll see you next year!

Giving Grammy goodbye hugs.
We'll see you tomorrow!

All packed up and ready to go home!

Pooped after a weekend at the coast!

Thanks again Jeff and Mama!
We had a GREAT time!
We love you!

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been a bad blogger lately, but I have been so busy!!  I was on vacation last week, which was actually a stay-cation.  It was so nice just to be at home - ALONE!  Randy went back to work last Monday (he had been working from home for the past 4 months) and I took Jack to school a few days, so it was just me!  Let me tell you, if I were a SAHM, I would be WORTHLESS!!!  I had big plans to clean out closets, organize our house, blog and sew, but all I did was sew.  Which was good, because I got caught up on my orders, but this week will be CRAZY BUSY with even more orders!  I'm loving it though!  When I set up my Etsy shop, I had no idea I would sell so much stuff so quickly.  HA!  Here are a few new things I made:

We went to the races Saturday evening.  We haven't taken Jack with us since April or May, but he did so good.  And, it was actually much easier to have him out there with us since he is walking.  He was all over the place and wanted to help the big boys, but overall, he did really well!

Here you go daddy

Despite these sunny pictures, the race got rained out.  A storm came through right as the guys got the chicken on the grill, the car all ready and in the staging lane and the TV set up for me to watch my Red Raiders kick some Texas butt (that didn't happen, but that's another story)!  We frantically packed everything up and headed back to Scott's to finish grilling.  I swear that it was only raining at the track, because it was clear skies when we got home!

Hope yall had a Great Weekend!

Just for my memory

Because even though this blog is a little bit about everything, I really blog just so I can remember what all happens in our day-to-day life, because goodness knows I CANNOT ever remember ANYTHING! HA!

After 36+ hours of continuous rain, we heard the tornado sirens go off, so Randy turned on the news only to see there was a tornado forming extremely close to our house.  Randy grabbed some blankets and his laptop, I got Jack and a few snacks and books, and we headed to our "safe" place - the closet underneath our stairs.  We stayed in the closet for about 30-45 minutes and waited for the storm to pass.  Luckily the tornado headed away from us and quickly fell apart, but not before hitting our friend's shop.  Everyone there was ok, and the damage was minimal.  Thank goodness!  This was my first time to ever "take cover" and it was kinda scary!  Jack did really well considering he is one and it is extremely difficult to get him to sit still for any length of time, but he had his blankie, a book and some snacks, so he was good to go!  Of course, I forgot to grab my camera and take a picture of us crammed in the closet, but o'well.

We're off to the beach this afternoon and praying for good weather!

Have a great weekend!

Bloggy Vacay

We had a great Labor Day weekend!  I didn't sew a lick and caught up on some much needed sleep and we also celebrated Randy's birthday with a cook-out and pool party over at Scott and Kim's house on Sunday.  I have pictures to share, but that will have to wait until a later post, because this week I will be on bloggy vacay in preparation for our beach vacation this weekend.  Not to mention, I have quite a few orders to get done and shipped before we leave and a sick baby to take care of.

I hope yall have a great week and I'll be back on Monday to share all the details of Ran's big birthday and stories from the beach!
